The Woodhouse Community Care Base was started, and continues to be run by local volunteers who earnestly desire to help children in their own community. They understand the needs intimately well, and know how best to meet those needs. No "foreign" agency is making decisions that may be inapproprate to their situation.
The Woodhouse Children Relief Fund has no bureaucracy to support. We are volunteers who strive to keep expenses to an absolute minimum. We know that every dollar that the Care Base receives will be spent helping the children.
The Woodhouse Community Care Base is working towards generating some of its' own income by developing a vegetable garden, and a chicken farm.
Many South Africans live in poverty with very little government assistance. They can not rely on the social programs we count on in Canada.
This community-lead effort fills a critical void in helping children in desperate need of support. By receiving basic meals, and early childhood education, the Care Base kids have a much better chance at suceeding in life.
As a registered Canadian charity, Woodhouse Children Relief Fund can issue a charitable tax receipt.
